LASIK

LASIK is a method of correcting your vision with surgery (also known as refractive surgery).  It essentially uses a laser to reshape the cornea which is the front layer of the eye.  Many of you either know someone who has had LASIK or are considering it yourself.  Continued improvements in technology and technique have made it a very safe procedure and possible for many patients.

While LASIK is the best known type of vision correction surgery, there are many others such as PRK, LASEK or lens implantation surgery.  Which surgical option is best for you depends on many factors such as your prescription and the shape of your cornea.  It is important to keep in mind that not everyone is a candidate for LASIK or refractive surgery and that there are some risks associated with these procedures.  It is critical to be screened properly if you are interested in having any type of surgery to correct your vision.
