Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT), also known as Orthokeratology, is the latest non surgical method to correct vision. Ortho-K allows you to see clearly during the day without having to wear glasses or contact lenses. Specially designed rigid gas permeable lenses are fitted to your cornea and gently reshape the front surface of your eye while you sleep.
Ortho-K is a good safe alternative for those patients who are are not ready to have vision correction surgery. LASIK has been approved only for those over 18 years of age so Ortho-K is ideal for younger patients who are active in sports and do not like wearing glasses or contacts during the day. Ortho-K has also been shown to slow the progression of nearsightedness in children and teenagers.
